This will be more than just a wedding, it will be a full-on fitness adventure. For those who’d like to arrive early, we’re planning a week of exploration and adventure that blends fitness and travel while experiencing everything Sicily has to offer. Expect scenic rides, active days, incredible food, great wine, and rich culture, to create a shared journey that’s as energizing as it is unforgettable.
There will truly be something for everyone. We’re keeping the fitness elements simple and accessible by working with our trusted vendors, local coaches, and guides, while still delivering the first-class adventure travel experience Terrier is known for. Once we know who’s attending and how many days each guest plans to join, we’ll send out an email with the per-day cost details.
FRIDAY 5/22
Arrive in Catania, transfer by taxi to the hotel, and get settled. Then enjoy some time exploring the sights of the historic city center. Dinner will be reserved in the centro for those arriving on Friday.
SATURDAY 5/23
Syracuse – Ancient Theater, Orecchio di Dionisio & Ortigia
9:00 AM van/bus departure together for Syracuse for a day of sightseeing, including the Ancient Theater, the Orecchio di Dionisio, and Ortigia. Transportation will be arranged, with the van/bus waiting outside. We’ll return by 6:00 PM, leaving you free to enjoy a solo evening exploring at your own pace or catch up on sleep.

1. CYCLING WITH ROBERT - Zafferana to Randazzo
“In Pursuit of the Perfect Nuvoletta”
A 25-mile route with approximately 2,800 feet of climbing, taking us about one-third of the way around Mount Etna's north rim. Once we reach Randazzo, well-earned cookies will be waiting. Additional miles are always an option for those who want more.
2. PILATES & WALKING TOUR WITH CHIARA - CATANIA
Meet in the hotel lobby for touring walk through Catania as we make our way to Pilates Mat. After class, we’ll enjoy a refreshing granita and coffee together.

1. CYCLING WITH ROBERT - Taormina to Savoca
"Leave The Gun. Take The Cannoli"
A 30-mile route featuring two climbs totaling 3,000 feet as we make our way to the iconic Godfather church for a cannoli and then return to Taormina for a well-earned granita! Additional miles are always available for those who want more.
2. URBAN HIKE WITH CHIARA - Hike in Taormina.
One of the most beautiful places on earth. We’ll begin at the famous Isola Bella beach and hike up to the Chiesa della Madonna della Rocca. The hike takes approximately two hours, with a stop halfway to explore Taormina’s historic center along the way.

1. CYCLING WITH ROBERT - Catania Out & Back
“Calm, Flat Roads Ahead”
We’ll ride south for the flattest ride of the week, cruising through open fields for 40 miles with sweeping views of Mount Etna in the distance—a perfect preview of tomorrow’s ride.
2. YOGA CLASS & MONASTARY WITH CHIARA & SHARON
Yoga class, followed by a guided tour of Catania’s historic monastery, now part of the University of Catania.
TUESDAY NIGHT - Paint & Aperitivo for Everyone
Paint, sip, and snack as we tap into our creativity. Let’s see how well your inner Picasso comes out

1. CYCLING WITH ROBERT - Nicolosi To Etna
“Into the Volcano: Nicolosi to Etna”
A 12 mile route with 4000ft of climbing with average grade of 7%. Riding from Nicolosi to Mount Etna is a steady, scenic climb through lava fields, pine forests, and open volcanic landscape. The road rises gradually but relentlessly, offering sweeping views of the coast and a powerful sense of riding straight into one of Europe’s most iconic volcanoes. Always more miles if needed.
2. HIKE ETNA WITH CHIARA - Mt. Etna
Explore Europe’s most active volcano. Led by experienced local guides, we’ll hike to the crater for an unforgettable adventure. The hike takes approximately five hours, and all necessary equipment is provided, including hiking shoes, poles, helmets, and jackets.

Vineyard Tour Then...A Wedding!
Wedding Day… but first, wine! 🍷
The bus leaves the hotel at 3:00 PM, getting us to the vineyard by 4:00 PM. We’ll take a tour of the vineyard before the wedding festivities begin. Pro tip: Bring sneakers to rock with your fabulous wedding attire for the tour—you can change into your fancy shoes right before we say… I do!

General Climate
- Warm and pleasant: Late May in Sicily feels like early summer, with temperatures generally comfortable to warm. It’s a great time for sightseeing, beach walks, and outdoor activities.
Temperatures
- Daytime highs: Around 70-80 °F on average by the end of May, sometimes a bit warmer in inland.
- Nighttime lows: Usually between 55-65 °F, cool enough that a light jacket in the evening can be useful.
Sun & Sky
- Sunny days are common: Sicily enjoys long daylight hours (around 14+ hours near the end of May) and plenty of sunshine.
- Rain is uncommon: There’s generally low rainfall and mostly dry conditions in late May.
Sea Temperature
- Expect sea temperatures around 67-70 °F, which many find cool but refreshing for swimming or water activities.
What To Pack
Pack light!
Anything you forget can easily be picked up once you arrive. Catania’s Fiera is one of Europe’s largest open-air markets and has just about everything at great prices. You’ll also find plenty of boutique designer stores, as well as a large outlet carrying many of the same brands you have back home.
For those planning to ride and add a little fitness:
You only need to bring your cycling shoes and one or two kits. You’ll be able to wash them here during the trip.
